As shelters need medical services for their pets, we happily help out. This way, the dogs and cats will be ready for adoption. We usually provide free medical check-ups and we often perform surgery and dental procedures. As we open new locations, we partner with more local shelters. We now work with 11 Central Texas animal welfare groups and have helped over 70 animals in 2018.
Have you noticed that we also like to give back by supporting community events? The Firehouse team goes above and beyond to make a difference in the community, spending about 30 weekends a year out-and-about meeting people and pets. From small neighborhood events to larger Kyle-wide events, we love to support Kyle nonprofits.
We also love visiting elementary school science fairs and career days, as well as lecturing at local high schools and universities. Want us to visit your school? Let us know!
Finally, we love bringing students and groups into our hospitals for tours and “vet for a day” experiences. We donate these experiences to silent auctions, so if you have an opportunity in 2019, please let us know. Local nonprofits raised about $5K in 2018 by auctioning off “vet for a day” experiences.
Like Dr. Jed Rogers, our Firehouse co-founder, always says: “As pet healthcare professionals, we feel it’s our obligation to contribute to the health of our city’s entire pet population, not just our clients. Philanthropy is about being a good neighbor.”
