We want your pet to live a long, happy, and healthy life by your side.

Wellness

Preventive care helps avoid disease.

Historical Information

We want to understand your cat and dog’s needs. 30-minute appointments give us plenty of time to talk.

Each team member studies medical communication when they join Firehouse. We’ll ask about your pet’s past and present experiences.

Blood Chemistry Testing
Internal problems can stay hidden until your pet exhibits signs of illness.

We can learn a lot about your pet’s body through a small blood sample. Bloodwork tells us what is going on now. It can also help us track your cat and dog over time to identify problematic trends.

Heartworm Testing & Prevention
Heartworm disease is common in cats and dogs. Yet, it is preventable!

We test our patients every year to ensure the medications are working. If not, we’ll find new ways of treating heartworms since there are many options.

X-rays and Ultrasounds

Our on-site X-ray equipment is completely digital. All hospitals own whole-body and dental imaging systems. Both systems use digital technology to provide the highest quality images. We also partner with board-certified radiologists for ultrasound and image review as needed.

Pharmacy (onsite and online)

We want to save you time and energy. So, we maintain a complete inventory of medicines to meet the needs of your pet.

We stock:

  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Prescription diets
  • Nutritional supplements
  • Shampoos
  • Flea and tick medications
  • Heartworm preventatives

We can also choose to order using our online fulfillment for prescription orders.

Emergency Care

Please call 720.647.2727 for 24-hour access to a team member to help with any questions or issues.

Physical Examination
Our cats and dogs can’t tell us how they feel. An annual physical exam lets us know what’s going well and also gives us insight into problems.

When done completely, we gain important knowledge about your pet. Our 30-minute appointments give us plenty of time for a thorough checkup.

Intestinal Parasite Screen
Studies show that 5-10% of cats and dogs have some form of intestinal parasite.

Parasites cause illness in pets and may cause health concerns in people. Yearly testing helps us identifies problems before they get out of hand.

Immunizations (Vaccinations)
We only give your pet the immunizations they need. We do not have a one-size-fits-all protocol. Instead, we consider age, health, lifestyle, and exposure risk. We also listen to your concerns before deciding what (if any) vaccines to give.
Diagnostic & Therapeutic Services
We’re equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services. Our medical record system is completely digital, providing a comprehensive solution for wellness care.
On-Site Surgical Services

We perform a wide variety of procedures in state-of-the-art surgical suites. We designed them with viewing windows. You’re invited to watch your pet the entire time he or she is having surgery. We want you to feel “in the know” about your pet’s health.

We can also arrange for a surgical specialist to provide specialized procedures at Firehouse.

Laboratory
Our in-house laboratory lets us test samples and diagnose diseases fast.

We’ve also used the largest and most reliable commercial lab for offsite lab testing. They help with:

  • Sample analysis
  • Pathology
  • Specialized diagnostics
  • Urinalysis
  • Parasite testing

We regularly consult with board-certified specialists at our lab and at our partner specialty hospitals in complicated cases.

Behavioral Considerations

We’ll help you be a great pet parent.

Behavior Consultation

Behavior training and stress management are critical to the human-animal bond. Many veterinarians overlook these areas. We want to be a resource for solving issues through education. We can also connect you with the Kyle-based expert we have vetted.

Professional Dental Care

Pets explore the world with their mouths. We keep their teeth and gums healthy.

Professional Dental Care
Many pet diseases begin with underlying dental disease. Regular professional dental cleanings can help.

Your cat and dog should visit us starting at 2-years-old for a dental exam. We like to check your pet’s teeth each year. We’ll recommend a cleaning only if they need one.

Research proves that a professional cleaning makes a tremendous difference to your pet’s health.

Services include:

  • Cleaning and polishing
  • Tooth extractions
  • Oral surgery

Our team learns the same dental techniques as board-certified veterinary dentists.

All our hospitals have digital radiography rooms and state-of-the-art dental cleaning equipment.

We’ve recorded these videos to offer more details about our dental philosophy:

Anesthesia
We use the best anesthetics on the market for dental cleanings and surgery.

We choose the best medicines because they provide extra margins of safety and comfort for patients.

We also use pulse oximetry and watch blood pressure during anesthetic procedures. A team of two will always track your pet during procedures that need anesthesia.

Finally, all anesthesia patients receive lab testing before their procedure. This ensures they’re healthy enough for anesthetics.

We also use an intravenous catheter during cleanings to receive fluids during their procedures.

Nutrition

The saying “you are what you eat” applies to pet, too.

Nutrition Consultation

The food we give our pets is critical to providing them a long and healthy life. For that reason, we’re dedicated to reviewing nutritional research. We pass the information along to you at appointments and on our blog.

We’ll guide you on decisions for your pet’s life stage. A pet’s age dictates different needs for growth, weight maintenance, and performance.

If needed, we’ll review diets that offer nutrition to help medical conditions.
